Zirconia balls/beads are fabricated from 3 mol% Y2O3-doped partially stabilized zirconia (PSZ), exhibiting exceptional mechanical properties with a room-temperature strength of 980 MPa and fracture toughness of 6 MPa·m¹/². The material demonstrates excellent electrical insulation (volume resistivity >10¹5 Ω·cm) and a thermal expansion coefficient (10.0 × 10-6/K) closely matched to metals, minimizing thermal stress when integrated with metal components. Through high-temperature sintering and phase stabilization, a tetragonal zirconia polycrystalline (Y-TZP) structure is formed, characterized by a uniform and dense microstructure, enabling ultra-low wear rates at the parts-per-million (PPM) level.
Composition & Overview
Zirconia balls are advanced grinding media composed of zirconia-based materials, engineered for ultrafine grinding, precision polishing, sandblasting, and specialized material manufacturing. Their exceptional properties make them indispensable in over 20 industrial sectors, including aerospace, electronic materials, and biomedicine.
