Silicone desiccant is a non-toxic, odorless, and chemically stable drying agent primarily composed of silicon dioxide (SiO₂). It is widely utilized for moisture-proofing and dehumidification across industrial and civilian applications.

1. Composition & Characteristics
Production Process: Synthesized through the reaction of sodium silicate with sulfuric acid, followed by aging and acid foaming to form an amorphous porous structure.
Chemical Stability: Insoluble in water and organic solvents; reacts only with strong bases (e.g., NaOH) and hydrofluoric acid (HF).
Moisture Absorption Mechanism: Functions via physical adsorption (surface pore trapping) or chemical reaction (e.g., hydration to form silicic acid).
2. Key Applications
Industrial Use:Protects electronic components, precision instruments, and mechanical parts from humidity-induced corrosion, oxidation, and mold growth.
